The sole privately held structure in the vast Prague Castle complex is Lobkowicz Palace. It is a family residence as well as a public museum. It was constructed in the middle of the 16th century for Czech lord Jaroslav of Pernstejn. Following a dynastic marriage that gave them ownership of the palace in 1603, the aristocratic Lobkowicz family lost it under the communist government of the Czech Republic after World War II, and they just recently reclaimed it in 2002.
