Middle East

The capital city of Jordan, Amman, is a beautiful blend of modern and traditional. Divided into two parts, East and West, East Amman is conventional and conservative, whereas, West Amman is urban and vibrant. Known as Ammon during Iron Age, it was called Philadelphia during the Greek and Roman era, and the name was changed to Amman during the Islamic period.

Amman is very popular amongst the tourist, and in 2014, it was 5th most visited Arab city. The delectable cuisine, rich history, and modern lifestyle of Amman are worth enjoying for more than 48 hours but here are our recommendations for 48 hours in this beautiful city.

The significant buildings amongst the ruins are the Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church, and the Umayyad Palace. Other notable structures of Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad are also visible at the site. The Citadel’s location is one of the seven hills which historically formed Amman and therefore serves as a perfect spot for some gorgeous views of the city.
