Taj Museum

The Taj Mahal contains many attractions that are popular with tourists. The famous Agra tourist attraction, also known as the Taj Mahal Museum, is the repository of an extensive and remarkable collection of Mughal-era artifacts and manuscripts. In 1982, the museum first welcomed visitors. It is a two-story building on a raised platform with an outside quadrangle projection. This big museum has two floors, three galleries, and the main hall. The museum houses various exhibits, the majority concerned with the building of the Taj Mahal and the era in which its architects lived. There are 121 artifacts, including Mughal miniature paintings, manuscripts, government orders, calligraphy samples, weaponry, utensils, blueprints, sketches for the Taj Complex, illustrations, marble pillar examples, etc. The first exhibit contains blueprints and color drawings that illustrate the main architectural features of the Tai Mahal. Visitors to the Taj Mahal complex can study the original designs for the Taj at the museum housed inside the Jal Mahal, which helps them understand the accuracy and precision that went into constructing the creation. The position of the tombs is shown in the interior plans of the Taj Mahal in such precision that the foot of the graves always faces viewers, regardless of the viewing point. In the second gallery, several jades and porcelain objects are displayed, including a beautiful ornamented spouted vase made of jade, a mirror set into stone, a bowl, and Celadon ware plates. Swords, daggers, and a world map showing the regions from which stones were obtained for the Taj Mahal's inlay work are displayed alongside specimens of these semiprecious stones. The antique jar that is the center of attention in this section of the Taj Museum is said to change color when food is poisoned. The third gallery features two Taj Mahal paintings by British artist Daniel from 1795 AD, significant royal Farmans and documents, famous calligraphy from the time, and more. In the main hall are replicas of coins displayed beside paintings on ivory of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, his favorite wife. Shahnama of Firdausi, a well-known Persian epic, is illustrated in the Chaihl Majlis manuscript and is also on exhibit. It also houses a fascinating order from General Perron from the reign of Shah Alam II that records the specifics of the fruit sale in the Taj Ganj Mausoleum's garden.
