At Kopan, the environment is warm and welcoming, and visitors can choose from various activities held throughout the day. Many of these activities are based on Buddhist doctrine.
When you arrive at the monastery, the most important thing to do is to let go of the stresses of regular life, concentrate on being here in this particular moment, and allow yourself to unwind.
Attend the morning puja performed in the main prayer hall by the monks to ensure that your day gets off to a good start.
Participate with the monks in their nightly prayers and conversations and allow yourself to be invigorated by their presence. This activity takes place in the evening.
Alternately, if you desire, you can practice meditation in the gardens, go around the several stupas, and spin the prayer wheels.
Take in the stunning view of the Kathmandu valley, Boudha, and the several monasteries in the surrounding area.
Pay a visit to the library to look over the different volumes, and then stop by the gift shop to pick up some keepsakes to remember your time there.
Take a break at the café or check your email at the workstation.
