Located at the Cathedral's base, the oeuvre Notre-Dame Museum takes visitors on a journey of discovery through seven centuries of art from Strasbourg and the region of the Upper Rhine.

The vast bulk of the items in the collection was created between the early middle ages and 1681. This collection includes sculptures, glass windows, architectural pieces, and designs for the Strasbourg Cathedral. The oeuvre Notre-Dame Museum is home to some remarkable examples of Alsatian art spanning from the Romanesque period until 1681.

The Strasbourg Cathedral is home to some of the world's most impressive works of sculpture, many of which date back to the 15th and 16th centuries and are considered among the finest examples of their respective art forms.

Many of the artifacts currently on display in the collection were originally housed in the Cathedral's collection (where copies have since been substituted).

The most well-known of these is a head of Christ fashioned out of stained glass and dating back to some time around the 11th century.

Other significant structures are the wise and stupid virgins from 1280, the winding Renaissance staircase, and antiques manufactured by goldsmiths in Strasbourg from the 16th and 17th centuries. All of these structures may be found in Strasbourg.
