It’s time to turn yet another page of the calendar. Winter has gradually made its exit and the door is finally open for the spring who was waiting patiently for its turn. March has arrived and the flowers have begun to make their lovely appearance and the landscape is nothing short of beautiful. In such a pleasant weather, how can I not praise the bravery of flowers that have blossomed this spring despite a long and harsh winter. Oh, how I wish to be as brave as the flowers!
I turn to flowers
whenever I feel I’m about to wither away
for they bloom again
they aren’t afraid of new beginnings
even after they’ve been plucked
trampled on
or withered
when I wither away
I hope I find the strength
to bloom again someday
In March, mother earth unveils the garb of snow, and her beauty is manifested in the pretty flowers that are in full bloom almost everywhere. If you’re feeling march-ish (yup, I just created that word), head to the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. and experience spring that has finally crossed the threshold after a long winter.
When: March 20 – April 14
The third month of the calendar is a time when entire Ireland is engrossed in St. Patrick’s Day Festival celebrations. The festival includes many fun activities and competitions such as the best window display competition, face painting, and traditional Irish dancing. March is a perfect time to take a trip to Ireland to indulge in Irish traditions. I’d recommend visiting the beautiful village of Carrick on Shannon in County Leitrim, to witness fantastic celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day.
When: March 19
March is also a month of bliss for music lovers. Miami hosts Ultra Music Festival towards the end of March which is one of the biggest dance music festivals in the world. Get ready to feel the beats moving through your veins while some of the best DJs showcase their talent.
When: March 29 – March 31
Don’t miss out on Holi celebrations in India. Travel to Delhi, Agra, Hampi, or Mathura to participate in this exciting festival where people throw water and gulaal (coloured powder). It’s a festival that brings out the inner child in everyone.
When: March 21
The earliest Roman calendar used to start with March. So, it’s Happy New Year for the ancient Romans. It’s a great occasion to travel to Rome and get familiar with its fascinating history.
Are you ready to make the best out of March?
